Facilities and Support

At the John Warner Sixth Form we aim to ensure that our students have access to the facilities, resources and support that they require to be successful.

We have a newly refurbished Sixth Form study centre which offers a calm and comfortable environment for our students to study. There are private study pods for individual work along with areas for small and larger group study. Students have open access to a range of computer facilities including 30 chrome books to help complete independent research and coursework projects.

Our students have exclusive access to the Sixth form café where they can grab a coffee and some lunch in the relaxing surroundings

In order to support our students, we have a range of mentoring and intervention programmes to offer extra academic and personal guidance where needed. All Sixth Form students have a tutor who takes a particular interest in the development of their tutees.

As students progress within the sixth form and begin to think about their future beyond school, we offer a personalised mentoring programme. We have an on-site careers and apprenticeship advisor who offers a wealth of experience to those students looking to enter the world of employment. All students who apply to university are offered personalised support from a senior member of staff as they complete their applications, and for those who are considering applying to Oxford, Cambridge or to medical school we provide a bespoke package of guidance to prepare for entrance exams and interviews.

Students complete a number of formalised assessments as they make their way through the Sixth Form and we use the results from these to ensure that we offer support to those students who require it. Our dedicated and passionate teaching staff are always available if students require extra guidance and we pride ourselves on all pulling together to ensure that our Sixth Form students achieve their full potential and leave John Warner ready to embark on the next steps in their lives.
