Celebrating 180 Years

The John Warner School reaches another milestone as it celebrates 180 years of education since it was founded in 1841 by John Warner, Quaker and foundry owner in Hoddesdon.

The schools’ history is littered with proud achievements, which have been celebrated throughout the years. The school will come together and mark this significant landmark in its history by holding various events throughout the year. The first of these, ‘a snapshot through time’, will take the form of a gallery of photographs and information about the school’s history collated from the Headteacher logs, diaries and photographs that can be found in the school archives.

Jeremy Scott Headteacher said, “We are very proud of the school’s origins and history. John Warner acquired Rawdon House and grounds in 1841 and built the first school for boys of all classes and religious beliefs. This comprehensive approach has been at the heart of the school’s development over 180 years and we hope to find many opportunities to celebrate our vibrant, diverse and ambitious school community over the coming months.”
