CMS Law Scholarships Programme

At CMS, we believe that a career in law should be open to everyone. To realise the full potential of our offering, we are committed to attracting and developing a new generation of the brightest and most creative legal minds. Now in its 10th year, we are offering up to 10 Scholarships winners from across the UK:

  •  £2500 for each year of their degree course
  • Mentoring support with their university applications
  • Support from one of our graduate trainees
  • Paid work experience at CMS during the holidays

Background to CMS

CMS is the sixth largest law firm in the world and has recently been named no 26 in 100 Best Employers for Graduates at the 2020 National Undergraduate Employability Awards. As well as supporting students in their university applications, the Law Scholarships scheme offers students a chance to develop a relationship with us and start their journey into the legal profession.

We also offer legal Work Experience and Apprenticeship opportunities – to find out more, please visit our Early Talent website.

Who can apply?

Scholarships are aimed at academically high-achieving students (predicted ABB at A-Level) who will be the first generation in their family to go to university. There are also certain financial criteria that students need to meet and full details of these can be found in the attached Scholarships brochure. We believe that right now it is more important than ever for firms like CMS to support these students to have the best chance to fulfil their aspirations.

What are the next steps?

To be considered for a Scholarship, students will need to enter our essay-writing competition, closing on 30 June 2021. Students will need to write 750 to 1000 words in answer to one of these two questions:

1)    “It is fair to place restrictions on those who refuse vaccines.” Do you agree?

2)    Are all forms of protest legitimate?

You can find full details of the scheme and how to apply.

We regularly post about our opportunities on social media and would encourage students who are interested to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

If you have any questions, please get in touch via email:
